Somalia continues to recover from decades of conflict, fragility, and socio-economic disruption, with youth comprising nearly two-thirds of the population. They represent a powerful force for peace, innovation, and national transformation.
Operating across federal member states, SC-YPS strengthens coordination among YPS actors, builds youth leadership, and amplifies Somali youth voices in national, regional, and international decision-making spaces.

Global YPS Agenda
SC-YPS aligns its work with the Global Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security and the international YPS framework (UNSCR 2250, 2419, 2535), while grounding its strategies in Somalia’s unique context. By connecting community-level realities with global advocacy spaces, SC-YPS strengthens youth-led peacebuilding efforts in fragile settings.
YPS-NAP Technical Steering Committee (TSC)
The TSC is established to lead, coordinate, and oversee the drafting, validation, adoption, and initial implementation planning of Somalia’s National Action Plan on Youth, Peace and Security.
- Provide strategic leadership for the development of the YPS-NAP.
- Ensure alignment with Somalia’s NTP, security architecture, and stabilization strategies.
- Facilitate inclusive, nationwide consultations with youth and stakeholders.
